Raffe Smith

Raffe joined JTB Architects in 2018, becoming an Associate Director in 2023. Raffe has been involved in designing a wide variety of projects across New Zealand, ranging from detailed renovations, large residential projects, multi-unit housing, prefabrication, aged care, institutional, and healthcare.

Raffe brings a wealth of experience in design and visual presentation with a strong background in written and oral communications. He has a wide technical knowledge and understanding of the building codes and standard. Raffe’s strengths lie with his keen critical sense, his thorough and diligent work to ensure a job is completed properly.

Raffe is currently Project Architect for the 60-bed care and 53 independent-living apartment building at Bethlehem Shores, Tauranga. Utilising a CLT primary structure, the project will be one of the largest in the Southern Hemisphere by volume of CLT used at completion. He is also leading the architectural team for the care, specialist dementia, and apartment buildings at Aria Bay in Auckland, with the final stage due to open in 2023.
