Michael joined JTB Architects in 2015 to manage the Christchurch studio and South Island projects. His appointment follows five years with award winning Christchurch based practice Wilson and Hill Architects and eight years with MG Architects in London.

Michael lived and worked in the United Kingdom for twelve years where he studied architecture in Edinburgh and London. His experience ranges from small scale residential conversions through to multimillion dollar residential, public, and commercial projects.

Michael has been actively involved with building recovery following the major Canterbury earthquakes of 2010 and 2011 and has successfully completed numerous earthquake repairs and rebuilds. He has gained a great deal of experience with insurance companies and project management organisations and has been able to balance the competing needs of a timely recovery with those of sensitivity toward the environment, including existing structures.

Michael has a thorough understanding of sustainable contemporary design at all scales, having worked on large scale Green Star and BASE rated commercial buildings in addition to environmentally conscious residential projects, both in New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

He brings creative thinking to every project and has a proven track record of managing consultant teams to deliver projects successfully.
