Ian is an accomplished architect with over 20 years’ experience across a diverse range of project types, including residential, commercial, healthcare, hospitality and aged care. Ian joined JTB Architects in 2015, following roles with Phil Redmond Architecture + Urbanism, Hopkins Engineering, and Sheppard & Rout Architects, and was appointed Associate Director in 2023. Along with a strong design sensibility, Ian brings effective project management and commitment to every project.

With JTB, Ian has led resource consent and construction documentation for a number of complex projects, up to $100M, including the new Merivale Somme Street and The Village Palms care homes in Christchurch. Ian is currently Design Manager for the 18,000m2 care and apartment building at Queenstown Country Club, and has led resource consent, concept, developed and detailed design phases for a number of other aged care developments around New Zealand. Through these, he has developed an in-depth understanding of the design and commercial requirements of the sector.

Recently, Ian has been involved in design and documentation for the award-winning multi-unit development, Maitahi Quarter Townhouses, as well as Falcon Brae Villa and Marlborough Vintners Winery.
