Wānaka Country Club

Wānaka Country Club

The proposed Arvida Wānaka Country Club is a residential lifestyle village designed in response to its rural alpine setting, combining contemporary architecture with a strong sense of place. The masterplan provides 164 independent homes alongside a 1,350m² clubhouse, a 28‑room care home, residents’ and maintenance sheds, and a range of outdoor amenities including lawn bowls and a pickleball court.

Sustainability is embedded within the development through passive solar design, thermal comfort, native landscaping, and energy‑efficient heating and appliances, supporting a lifestyle that encourages independence, neighbourly interaction, and living your way.

The design draws inspiration from Central Otago’s rural vernacular, expressed through single‑storey pavilion buildings, gabled rooflines, and a material palette of schist, timber, brick and claddings. Positioned at the heart of the village, the clubhouse and care home form a social and visual anchor, strengthening community identity and intuitive wayfinding.

The homes are arranged to maximise privacy, solar access, and expansive views toward Roys Peak, Mt Iron, Mt Barker, and the Pisa Range. Double‑pitched roof forms respond to the surrounding alpine landscape, while careful site planning ensures a strong sense of community.
