Key phase of work completes at Arvida Queenstown Country Club

“Our goal was to design a building that fit organically into Queenstown’s natural landscape while providing practical living and restorative spaces for the residents” says Michael Dillon, Director.
Located in Frankton, Queenstown, this luxury aged-care development is designed to enhance residents’ lifestyles with its modern facilities, spacious green areas and breathtaking views.

JTB Architects provided full architectural services for the 13,600m² apartment and care building, containing a mix of living-well luxury apartments and hospital-level care suites, spaced over 6 wings and three stories. These spaces are thoughtfully designed to foster a sense of community, support wellbeing, and integrate with the surrounding alpine environment. The design for the apartment and care building prioritises prime northern orientation on the site, creates expansive green spaces, frames alpine vistas and promotes modern community living.
The care facility also introduces a pioneering approach to aged care with its 82-bed capacity, offering specialised dementia and hospital-level care alongside individual care suites that balance independence and tailored support.

The apartment and care building, arranged over six wings and three stories, incorporates cutting-edge sustainable design. Constructed primarily from cross-laminated timber (CLT), the building’s structure stores substantial CO2 than the emissions produced by concrete building. Detailed Homestar assessments have also been undertaken to ensure high environmental performance, with building-wide Homestar ratings established for all apartment and care room types.
