This is an extension and refurbishment to an existing bungalow, dating from the 1930’s. The building has been extended towards the northern boundary, within a previously underutilised area of the garden, to provide a new kitchen and dining room opening out onto a dining terrace. These works include a new entrance and porch allowing the interior circulation to be rationalised and the original kitchen and entrance to be combined into a new bedroom.

The extension is designed to complement and enhance the original building, with the new gable centered on the line of the existing at a lower level. High level windows are used to admit morning sun whilst preserving privacy. Large roof windows ensure that the dining area is sunny and light, with the raking ceiling providing generous proportions. The kitchen provides ample surface area and cupboards, with the walk-in pantry and hidden fridge allowing plentiful storage whilst maintaining the clean interior lines.

Other improvements include insulation, double-glazing and gas underfloor heating to provide comfort and improve energy efficiency.

A bright palette of colours and materials were chosen to complement the age and style of building, and provide a light and relaxed interior atmosphere.
