Port
Hills House |
This large house is on a steeply sloping section facing wonderful
views of
Tasman
Bay
and the mountains beyond.
The house has been carefully planned to suit the site contours.
All living rooms and bedrooms have views to the sea.
Decks are provided on the west side and also at the
rear of the living area where sheltered outdoor living can be found.
The
form of the house is composed with
balanced horizontal and vertical lines. Key walls have been thickened, both down and
across the slope, to 'anchor' the house to the hillside and are cointerpointed with
the large areas of glazing. Roof soffits are sloped towards the edge to
appear visually light.
